Hepatitis B

Hepatitis is a disease in which there is an inflammation in the liver. It may be chronic or acute depending upon its time duration and type. Hepatitis may be A, B, C, D, or E. all types of hepatitis cause liver inflammation. There are many causes of hepatitis such as poison, excessive use of alcohol, autoimmune disorders or any injury to the liver. A person who is having hepatitis may feel nausea, vomiting, fever, body ache and abdominal pain. It is not compulsory that every patient feels these symptoms.

Hepatitis B is a serious type of liver infection that is usually spread with the contact of fluids of somebody who has infection or with blood contact. A person may have Hepatitis B if he has not protected the sexual contact with an infected partner. People who are using intravenous drugs can get Hepatitis B if they share their needles with the infected person. There are chances of Hepatitis in nurses, lab assistants and doctors if they are touched with the needle of the infected person. There are also chances of transfer from mother to child during child birth. A person has more chances of Hepatitis B if he goes to that area of the world where Hepatitis B is very common. Hepatitis B can not be transferred through casual contact. A person can not get Hepatitis if he shakes his hand or hugs an infected person.

There are various symptoms of Hepatitis B such as, nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain around the liver, weakness and fatigue, dark colored urine, joint pain and jaundice. There might be severe or mild symptoms of Hepatitis. There are many complications in a chronic Hepatitis because in this type of Hepatitis, the liver cells become dead and they are replaced by the scar tissues and fats. The damaged area stops working and can not cleans wastes. If a person has Hepatitis B then there are chances that he might have Hepatitis D after sometime. Hepatitis B can be diagnosed by conducting blood tests. These tests show the working condition of the liver that whether it is working or not. It is a preventive disease.
